Cool Stories|Current Stories|North Pole Race
|

I got back about a month ago after what turned out to be a very long and slow walk to the 1996 location of the magnetic north pole. The race was sponsored by Extreme World Races and began about 60 nautical miles outside Resolute in Nunivit. We then raced 280 nautical miles to the finish line, which is another 13.9 nautical miles past the North Pole. At that point, fortunately, a plane comes to pick us up and get us back to Resolute. I was on Team America and we were last over the finish line in 16 plus days. The fastest team did the race in just over 9 days. I've got a trip report online at the following link if you want the detailed version. You can find it here: http://curiousadvent.blogspot.com/2010/05/long-slow-trip-part-one-pre-race-prep.html.
I want to compliment you on your "Rite in the Rain" Expedition Notebooks. The participants and race staff let me know just how great the notebooks were in terms of durability, features and size. I'll be sure to take "Rite in the Rain" on all my other adventures!
Thanks!
Debbie
